I use a pedometer everyday the one I would recommend is Omron Walking Style Pro Pedometer

This is a brilliant piece of equipment it will link to your computer so that you can download your information and keep a visual record of your progress and the amount of steps and distance you cover.  This is a great incentive tool.  A normal Saturday shopping trip can notch up over 13000 steps, and that is something us girls especially love to do.  It is generally recommended that we aim for 10000 steps a day to increase fitness, if you are looking to incorporate walking into a weight loss regime 15000 steps a day should see a regular weekly loss.

I wear my pedometer from the minute I get up in the morning to the minute I go to bed.  I find myself making simple tasks with additional steps.  Putting the washing away, instead of taking everything upstairs at once I'll sort into the rooms the washing goes into and make the separate trips and so add additional steps into a normal daily routine.  Whilst working in an office a quick comfort break can add additional steps, instead of using the toilets on the floor your office is on use the floor above or below. Any  regular printing jobs can soon add the extra steps on the walk to the printer.  Instead of sending the email to a colleague walk over and see them.  Extra steps earned as well as avoiding eye strain from sitting looking at the screen for too long.

On a recent trip to Paris I managed 35000 steps a day and lost 5lbs over a long weekend. A enjoyed my time seeing what must be one of the most beautiful cities in the world and kept fit at the same time.  The exercise allowed me to enjoy the croissants etc that are wonderful and still keep in trim.

Do you have a favourite city you like to visit?  Are there specific walks you would recommend to a visitor?
